Mozambique LNG at the Cabo Delgado Economic Fair 2023

The Mozambique LNG Project, led by TotalEnergies, participated in the Cabo Delgado Economic Fair, held last weekend, under the motto “Sharing Investment Opportunities to Accelerate Reconstruction, Industrialization and Development”. The annual event is organized by the Government of Cabo Delgado and was attended by the Governor of the Province, Valige Tauabo, Secretary of State, Antonio Supeia, and representatives of public and private companies.The Mozambique LNG Project, led by TotalEnergies, participated in the Cabo Delgado Economic Fair, held last weekend, under the motto “Sharing Investment Opportunities to Accelerate Reconstruction, Industrialization and Development”. The annual event is organized by the Government of Cabo Delgado and was attended by the Governor of the Province, Valige Tauabo, Secretary of State, Antonio Supeia, and representatives of public and private companies.

Leonardo Nhavoto, Local Content Manager for the LNG Mozambique project, outlines how the project is maximizing local content.

On the occasion,  Leonardo Nhavoto, Local Content manager, in a highly welcomed speech, reaffirmed the commitment of our Mozambique LNG project to maximize local content, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of the country in general and of Cabo Delgado, in particular.

Leonardo spoke about our approach to local content, our CapacitaMoz platform and highlighted the opening, last week, of the  Mozambique LNG Project's Local Content One Stop Shop in the City of Pemba, which aims to contribute for the promotion and enhancement of training and creating business opportunities for Mozambican entities and individuals, and showed, with concrete examples, some of the results already achieved, namely:

• 489 young people graduated from technical-professional courses at IFPELAC, in Cabo Delgado. This partnership with IFPELAC aims to train 2500 young people in that province over a period of 5 years.
• 72 young people graduated, last week, in the Hospitality and Tourism course, by the Industrial and Commercial Institute of Pemba (IICP), out of a total of 390 young people who will be trained in the 1st year. In addition to the Hospitality and Tourism course, this partnership with the IICP aims to train young people in the areas of Oil and Gas Processing, Industrial Electricity, and General Mechanics.
• 10 Mozambican students in professional internships in the United Arab Emirates and Ghana, in partnership with Van Oord and TechnipFMC, highlighting a total of 4 students from Cabo Delgado in the group.
• Opening, in Pemba, in the same week, of the Single Service Desk for local content of the Mozambique LNG project.
• 13 Mozambican companies certified in ISO 90001 Quality Procedures.
• 25 Mozambican companies currently benefiting from a business development program aimed at increasing the competitiveness of companies in Cabo Delgado.
• 29 registered micro-enterprises and 26 legalized associations, in the last 12 months, within the scope of initiatives to promote the socio-economic development of local communities.
• 37 business plans for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) developed and 8 funding requests for MSME approved, in the last 12 months, within the scope of the partnership with GAPI and.
• 1 workshop with 40 international companies held in France, with the participation of Mozambican business associations and representation of the public and private sector at central and provincial level.

In addition to the CapacitaMoz initiative,  Leonardo also referred to the 4,000 jobs created under our Pamoja Tunaweza initiative, and to the 68 young Mozambicans who have already benefited or are benefiting from higher education scholarships in France.
