Virtual recruitment fair with UNILURIO
The Total-led Mozambique LNG Project held, from 22nd to 23rd October, a virtual recruitment fair in partnership with the University of Lúrio Faculty of Engineering.
The event was focused on finalist and graduate students of the university situated in Pemba, Cabo Delgado province. It aimed at serving as a platform for recruiting new talents to be part of the company's workforce, taking into account that about 5,000 jobs will be created during the five years of construction of the LNG facility on the Afungi peninsula.
“This year, the event was organized in a virtual format due to the current circumstances that impose social distancing,” said Paulo Manhique, TotalEnergies Human Resources Manager.
Manhique further stated, “We are committed to involving and maximizing the participation of local content. Recruitment and training of Mozambican work force are fundamental components of our local content strategy.”
Fred C. Nelson, Director of the Faculty of Engineering, of the University of Lúrio, Pemba branch, said:
“We are proud to actively cooperate with Total to carry out this virtual recruitment fair, through which our students will have access to the job market, always having taking into account the principles of gender equity. Uni Lúrio has been working with partners to contribute to the development of the Northern Region of Mozambique, as this is its Mission.”
This is the second job fair promoted by the company in partnership with higher education institutions in the country. The first fair took place at Eduardo Mondlane University - last year.
TotalEnergies employs directly and through their contractors more than 5,100 Mozambicans, representing 83% of its workforce, out of which 38% come from Cabo Delgado (26% from Palma and 12% from the rest of Cabo Delgado). These workers carry out their activities at all project levels in a wide range of functions, including the construction of the village of Quitunda, the airstrip, the camp expansion and other projects that are essential for the construction of the LNG facility.
