TOTAL LAUNCHES ON-LINE COURSE FOR YOUNG MOZAMBICANS

The Total-led Mozambique LNG project announces the launch of the electronic training platform MOOC MOZAIC, which is the first step of the training and recruitment program of young Mozambicans for Mozambique LNG operations team. MOOC stands for “Massive Open Online Course” and MOZAIC is the name of the initiative in favor of education implemented by Total E&P Mozambique.

The MOOC MOZAIC platform will be open to applications for students aged 18 to 25 who have completed at least the middle level of the national education system. It consists of a free 9-week online training course, covering basic mathematics, sciences, oil & gas and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. All applicants can register in www.moocmozaic.com from March 15.

The MOOC model will enable a large number of students across Mozambique to access the training and potentially employment with the project during the operations phase. Participants who successfully complete the MOOC MOZAIC platform course will be eligible to participate in the selection process for further training at Mozambique LNG Academy, the Total’s Training Center based in Maputo. The Mozambique LNG Academy will provide free training to 400 young Mozambicans to assume positions of operators, maintenance technicians (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation), health, safety and environment (HSE) and logistics technicians in the Mozambique LNG project. It will start its activities in September 2021 with an initial group of 60 participants.

Ronan Bescond, Country Chair of Total in Mozambique, said: “As operator of Mozambique LNG, our objective is to incorporate talented young Mozambican women and men in our operations team. Development of local skills is an integral part of our business model. The training and recruitment of young Mozambicans contributes to our sustainable development objectives and responds to the commitments established with the Mozambican Government in terms of local content”.

Total E&P Mozambique Area 1 Limitada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Total, operates Mozambique LNG with a 26.5% participating interest alongside ENH Rovuma Área 1, S.A.
